From 2011 to present, Mr. Walters has been the Program Director of the certification of solar energy systems for FSEC. He has also holds the position of Quality Manager for the ISO 17025 accredited test facility at this location.
Mr. Walters joined FSEC in 2008 to assist the center with an upgrade to their thermal testing activity. He coordinated the improvements and contributed many of the process improvements that led to their efficiency gains.
Prior to his joining FSEC he had been involved in the semiconductor manufacturing industry as a Staff level Process Engineer for a leading equipment manufacturer. In that capacity he traveled to customer’s sites worldwide to troubleshoot manufacturing process problems. His main exposure was in the plasma etch discipline with the metal, oxide, and polysilicon films. Chemical mechanical polish to a lesser extent was in his domain of responsibility.
Mr. Walters holds two patents in the semiconductor-manufacturing arena.
6,265,231 “Process control via valve position and rate of position change monitoring”
6,767,427 “Apparatus and method for conditioning polishing pad in chemical mechanical planarization process”.
