Installation cost varies by truss or sheathing location: $100.00 for sheathing install through Home Depot contractor according to Rick. No call backs from Miami contractors yet. The majority in S Dade are concentrating on commercial jobs right now and not accepting residential work.
(Price estimate for installation assumes 52 pieces of plywood, with two men needing four minutes to do each board, 6.33 hrs $15.00/hr = $100.00.)
Miller Insulation & Acoustics, 6720 33rd St E. Sarasota, 813-751-4991, (Billy Ray) price: $354.00 w/materials, stapled to sheathing, one day job.
Roof Coatings:
Summers Painting & Roof Coating, 8920 SW 129th St, Miami, 305-232-1527 (Kathy) Uses a two step primer\topcoat that is made in Clearwater and is latex acrylic, bright white, and costs $600.00 for a 1,600 sq ft roof.
Water-King of Florida, mc, 305-652-2084 (Charlie) sells a ceramic paint that they claim lasts the life of the building, $1,600 including the pressure clean.
Scott Paint Co., Sarasota 813-922-3305, sells the Plastoflex 20(X) elastomeric roof coating 5 gallons for $75.00 with a coverage of 50 sq. ft./gallon, or $480.00 per coat. Siesta Key Decor 813-349-3276, charges $1,800 to do this size job.EERS, Carl Jacobs, 305-351-9899, sells an acrylic ceramicote with an 8 year warranty. The primer costs $280, 20 gallons of the topcoat costs $340, for a total of $620.00 material. They do not apply it, but estimate $0.50 per sq.ft. or $800.00 for application, for a total of $1,420.00.
Somay products recommended applicator Anthony Wilson, 305-251-9123, who charges $2,960 w/material, although he will lower his price for a number of houses in the same area for a FSEC project.
Whole House Fan:
36” Sears model 32-y-64360n $319.99 will work for up to 2400 sq ft. Labor for basic installation is 6 hours @ $20/hr plus electrical 1 hr @ $25/hr total = $150.00. To set the unit back into the truss involves $60.00 material and $80.00 labor, adding $140.00 to installation.

Security Windows 305-735-5100, has stated that our size/type windows are not available at this time.
Sun-Air 305-621-5976 (Sylvina) is sold out of awning windows, has only single hung, but can get awning in 30 days. 4.5 x 4 = $118 3’ x 2’ = $72.

Solar Development Co., Riviera Beach 407-842-8935 (Don Kazimer) winner of FSEC/Governor’s competition, under $700, to be in Home Depot by November 1992, homeowner installed for $50.00 materials. Estimates that professional installation would cost no more than $350.00.
Low-Flow Shower Heads:
Scotty’s, MI, 45209210 (Lisa) Melon, 2.5 gpm, $10.59. Real Goods, Ukiah, $11, 12, 17, 18; Home Depot, $16.00.
Waste Heat Recovery Units (Desuperheaters):
Carlos Colon (FSEC) says that the typical add-on residential unit will work on systems from 2-5 tons, and the price range is $400 to $700, with $525.00 typical.
Alternative Energy Systems, 1840 NW 33rd St, Pompano Beach, 800-683-7946, $1,094.00 installed.
South Florida Energy Systems, 107778 Wiles Rd, Coral Springs, 305-341-2002, charges $800-$1, 100 depending on installation run distance and complexity.
Air & Heat Unlimited, 1725 W 39 P1, Hialeah, 305-557-9333, (Mimi) charges $600 but the plumbing charges are extra (ball park: $125) = total $725.00.
Pool Pumps:

Island Pools, 18161 SW 98th Ct Miami 305-233-3333 (Tony) sells 1/2’s for $305 and 3/4’s for $320.
2” Piping for New Pools:
PVC Supply House 120 Fortenberry MI 452-1540, charges $0.10 more per foot than 1 1/2” pipe and the fittings are about 25% more. Figure $40.00 premium on a standard size pool.
Landscaping:
Rockledge Gardens 2153 US 1 Rockledge 636-7662 gets the following:
Live Oaks: 6-8’ $39.95 or 8-10' $95.00
Wax Myrtle: 3-4’ $7.95 or 5-6' $49.95
A 33% premium per tree gets them planted with a six month guarantee.
Galloway Farm Nursery 7790 SW 87th Ave Miami 305-274-7472 (Rick) gets $29.95 for a 6-8’ Live Oak. They haven’t been able to get wax myrtle in since the storm.
Two other Miami nurseries were out of both type trees, but sold them at prices near Rockledge Gardens.
Lighting:
Wal-Mart is selling the GE Energy Choice 26 watt compact fluorescent (replaces 90 watt bulb) for $11.96 at their N. Miami store and $17.94 at their Rockledge store.
Home Depot, 2300 S. University, Davie, 305476-9600, sells two compact fluorescents, 18 watts by Electropek for $9.97 and a 15 watt GE for $11.95.
Raybro Electronic Suppliers, 419 Poinsett Dr, Cocoa, FL, 407-636-1646, price for Sylvania 52W halogen capsylites is $2 - $3 each, depending on quantity.
