In early 1975, administrators at the University of Central Florida began putting together the people to staff the new solar energy center that had been established by the Florida Legislature.

This month, in honor of the center's 30th anniversary, we'll be holding an open house to share information on energy-saving strategies and products and to showcase our building and our research. You're invited to join us for this special event.

The program will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 29. Among the day's planned activities are:

  • Presentations by FSEC staff on home energy savings, tax incentives, new technologies, disaster relief and other topics of interest.
  • Informal sessions where visitors can talk with researchers about energy efficiency and renewable energy. It's your chance to talk one-on-one with the experts to get your energy questions answered.
  • Tours around the building describing the energy-saving features and equipment used.
  • Day-long student activities including solar car racing, solar cooking and other fun events.
  • Energy videos and industry exhibits.

A complete schedule is available here. We hope you will be able to join us for this day of energy activities. It took us 30 years to prepare for it.
