New Florida Building Code Date Set
Florida Building Commission determines March 15, 2012 code effective date for 2010 building code. The energy code will now be 20% better than the 2007 Florida building code.

Homes Are Needed for Energy Code Study
FSEC is currently conducting an energy study for the State of Florida Department of Community Affairs to compare the energy use of Florida homes built under the 2009 energy code to Florida homes built under the 1984 code. The owner of selected study homes will be paid $200. Homes must be occupied single family detached construction (no townhomes, no apartments and no manufactured homes) having between 1,500 - 2,300 square feet of living space.
