FSEC's Dr. Subrato Chandra Retires
Dr. Chandra began his career at FSEC in 1976. He became acting director of the R&D division in 1982, and then permanent director in 1985. In 2001, Dr. Chandra stepped down from the director’s position to focus on the U.S. DOE BAIHP project. His leadership of the BAIHP team and work with builder partners has beneficially impacted the construction of nearly 200,000 homes throughout the U.S., including several zero and near zero energy homes and the first Builders Challenge home.
FSEC to Advise Team Florida in 2011 Solar Decathlon
FSEC will assist in an advisory capacity to Team Florida students in next year’s Solar Decathlon.  The U.S. DOE Solar Decathlon challenges 20 collegiate teams to design, build, and operate solar-powered houses that are affordable, energy-efficient, and attractive. Team Florida is a multi-disciplinary team representing four major Florida Research Universities: USF, FSU, UCF, and UF.  Team Florida aims to create a zero energy home prototype that will capture the imagination of the Florida public and raise awareness and interest in zero energy homes.
