David A. Winslow, P.E. is the Senior Director of Engineering and Environmental Sustainability for Universal Orlando Resort. David received his Bachelors of Science and Masters of Science degrees in Civil Engineering with a minor in Ocean Engineering from Purdue University. He is a licensed professional engineer in the State of Florida. His career started at Perry Submarine Builders/Lockheed Martin in Riviera Beach, Florida. At Perry, David was the project engineer for submersibles, dive systems and remotely operated vehicles including the Royal Navy 20,000-foot-deep Towed Unmanned Submersible (TUMS). In 1992, David joined Universal Orlando where he was Technical Director for Earthquake, King Kong, Animal Actors Live, Men in Black and Twister as well as Project Director for The Revenge of the Mummy. David currently manages the Technical Services Ride and Show Engineering, Quality Control and Planned Work departments as well as Environmental Sustainability for Universal Orlando Resort. David formed the Universal Orlando Green Council which is an ongoing effort that focuses on Biofuels, Alternative Energy, Power Conservation, Green Procurement, Recycling, Green Construction, Water Conservation, Carbon Offsets, Employee and Public Awareness. Universal Orlando's switch to Ethanol and Biodiesel fuels for all gasoline and diesel engines was made possible through the efforts of David and his Green team.
