Chris Castro is a social entrepreneur, community organizer and sustainability professional with a passion for accelerating the transition to a clean energy economy. Over the last 10 years, Chris has worked with governments, academia, chambers, companies, nonprofits and communities to implement sustainability projects that include a variety of topics, specifically solar energy development, building efficiency, electric vehicles, local food systems, water quality, ecological restorations and more. He's currently the Director of Sustainability for Mayor Buddy Dyer and the City of Orlando. In his role at the City, Chris works to coordinate, develop, integrate, and administer the City’s sustainability, energy and climate-related policies and programs through Green Works Orlando.

In 2012, Chris co-founded a clean-energy consulting and development firm called Citizen Energy, specializing in custom energy efficiency and renewable enrgy solutions for small and mid-sized commercial and multifamily buildings in the greater Washington, DC metropolitan area. He also sits on several nonprofit boards, including USGBC Florida, Florida Green Chamber of Commerce, Florida Renewable Energy Association, and the World Economic Forum's Global Shapers Community. In his spare time, you can find Chris organizing environmental action projects in Central Florida through his international nonprofit IDEAS For Us, leading an urban farming program called Fleet Farming in Orlando neighborhoods, and surfing with friends on the East coast of Florida.
