Engineer — Solar Energy

The job description of this position includes:

Projects Engineering

  • Design mechanical systems for research and test application as opportunities arise
  • Install designed systems as needed to support research and test application needs
  • Evaluate equipment components and sub-systems to determine the usefulness for specific
    research and test objectives
  • Prepare and follow budgeting disciplines to ensure fiscal responsibility of assigned
    projects

Test Equipment and Facility Maintenance

  • Design maintenance routines for test area or facility to ensure optimum performance
  • Coordinate resources to keep maintenance routines on schedule
  • Maintain safe work environment
  • Ensure safety policy is understood and enforced
  • Improve procedures as needed to keep the environment and persons safe

 

Requirements:

A bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization; or a high school diploma and four years of appropriate experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience. If minimum requirements of the position do not require post high school education, an applicant is not required to provide the information on the application.

This position does not require college credits. If the selected applicant claims college credit on the application for this position, an official college transcript must be provided within 30 days of the hire date. Experience with solar energy testing apparatus and procedures is preferred.

Salary:

$40,081.93 plus benefits*

This is a time limited position due to being a grant position. Current grant year ends 06/30/2011.

This is a University Support Personnel System (USPS) position.
