Going Below Zero: HERS Indicies for Certified LEED Homes Continue to Decline
All certified LEED Homes are energy-efficient. However, a trend towards lower and lower HERS Indicies (lower is better) continues. In 2010, FSEC and its Green Raters assisted with certification of several LEED Homes with HERS in the 30’s and 40’s. In late 2010 and early 2011, homes with HERS in the teens and 20’s were certified. The 2011 International Builders Show brought LEED certification of the KB Home GreenHouse with a HERS of 0 (annual net use of zero). In May of 2011, certification was completed on a custom home by Josh Wynne Construction, Power Haus – in Sarasota, with a HERS of -22! Power Haus | LEED for Homes |
Indian River County Public Schools Demonstrate Savings
